Product protection refers to measures and strategies that aim to protect a product from various threats and risks. Product protection is particularly important in various industries, including the electronics industry, where the integrity and authenticity of products are of crucial importance.

Product protection and ESD are closely linked, especially in the electronics industry. ESD protection is an essential part of product protection to protect electronic components and devices from damage caused by electrostatic discharge.

Protection of electronic components:
Many electronic components are extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Even small discharges that are not perceptible to humans can irreparably damage these components. Suitable ESD protection measures ensure that electronic devices function reliably and are not damaged during manufacture, handling and use.

Implementation of ESD protection measures:
It is necessary to set up special ESD-protected areas (EPA) in production and assembly areas. The area must be clearly demarcated and clearly marked with signs and markings. Only ESD-suitable equipment may be used in this sensitive area and only ESD-suitable clothing may be worn. It is also important to control the humidity in the production areas, as dry air increases the likelihood of electrostatic charging.

Packaging and transportation:
ESD-safe packaging is the be-all and end-all. Antistatic or conductive packaging materials must be used for the transportation and storage of ESD-sensitive components. ESD-compliant bags, containers and foams are suitable for this purpose.

Markings:
ESD-sensitive products must be labeled with appropriate warning symbols to ensure that they are handled properly throughout the logistics process.

Product testing and quality control:
Production lines and processes should be checked at regular intervals to ensure continuous ESD protection. In addition, all employees working in the ESD protection zone, including cleaning staff, should receive ESD training or instruction. This is the only way to ensure that everyone involved in the production process understands the importance of ESD protection measures and implements them.
